Our 1.5-hour 1:1 surf lessons introduce the Flow Method™ through an individualized assessment of each participant’s functional abilities, sensory regulation, communication style, and water safety needs. This assessment allows our surf coaches to structure the Flow Method™ around each athlete’s unique surf journey and to support goals outlined in their Individual Program Plan (IPP).

The Flow Method™ is a structured, evidence-informed approach that integrates adaptive surf instruction, water safety, and therapeutic movement. Sessions emphasize consistency, repetition, and gradual skill progression to support motor planning, balance, coordination, self-regulation, and confidence. Coaching is delivered at the athlete’s pace, promoting increased independence, community participation, and positive recreational outcomes in a safe, supportive environment.

While services are delivered as individual (1:1) instruction, multiple 1:1 lessons may occur simultaneously. This structure allows participants to receive personalized support while engaging in a small-group surf environment, supporting peer interaction, social integration, and shared recreational experiences.

These surf sessions are provided by Flow Wave Warriors Academy, an approved vendor with California Regional Centers and for California Self-Determination Program participants. Services may be funded through traditional Regional Center services or Self-Determination approved spending plans.
